INSTRUCTIONAL SYSTEMS SPECIALIST

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1750, Instructional Systems Series. Basic Requirement for GS-1750-11:
A Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position to be filled. The course work must include study in at least four of the following five areas:
(1) Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology; (2) Instructional design practices (3) Educational evaluation (4) Instructional product OR (5) Computers in education and training. Some positions in this series may specialize in one or two functional areas, where more specific academic preparation may be necessary. For such positions, agencies may require course work in the applicable functional area(s) as part of the above-required 24 semester hours. Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience for GS-1750-11 which includes comprehensive knowledge of a wide a variety of instruction design principles and methods sufficient to plan, coordinate, and design instruction for full-length courses or complex development areas. Comprehensive knowledge of a wide variety of instructional development methods sufficient to develop and revise instructional materials which result in a complete and full-length training products for specialty areas or career management fields. Comprehensive knowledge of a wide variety of instructional measurements methods and principles sufficient to develop plans or policies for measuring achievement of instructional objectives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-09 grade/level position or equivalent in the federal service. OR Education:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE:

Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in- grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of professional learning theories, principles, methods, practices, and techniques to support formal training programs. 2. Knowledge of instructional design and ma1erials development to include use of technology for design and delivery of training. 3. Knowledge of AF training administration, polices, and procedures. 4. Ability to use analytical and evaluative skills to assess program capabilities and to complete special studies and projects. 5. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Experience:
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK
Experience:
Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
